Ingredients
1 bunch of green or red seedless grapes
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 cup of water
2-3 drops of food coloring (ideally mix and match for swirl effect)
Flavoring extract (like vanilla or mint, optional)
Toothpicks or skewers
Directions
1. Prep the Grapes:
Wash the grapes thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel. Make sure they are completely dry.
Insert toothpicks or skewers into each grape. This will make them easier to handle during the candy-coating process.
2. Prepare the Candy Coating:
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat.
Stir the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves. Once the sugar is dissolved, stop stirring to prevent crystallization.
Bring the mixture to a boil and let it cook without stirring until it reaches the hard-crack stage (300°F/150°C) on a candy thermometer. This process can take about 15-20 minutes. Be careful not to burn the sugar.
3. Add Color and Flavor:
Once the sugar syrup reaches the hard-crack stage, remove the pan from the heat.
If you’re using food coloring and flavoring, add them at this stage and stir gently to incorporate.
