1. First things first, butter up an 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper if that’s what you prefer. A little butter on the bottom helps keep everything from stickin’.
2. In a medium saucepan, combine those white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Stir them over low heat—now, don’t get impatient and crank it up—until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth as a calm lake at dawn.
3. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla, a pinch of salt, and then fold in the Fruity Pebbles until they’re just coated in that creamy goodness. It’ll look like a rainbow in a summer storm!
4. Pour the mixture into your prepared pan and smooth it out like a bedsheet. Make sure it’s nice and even so everybody gets a fair share.
5. Let the fudge cool at room temperature for a bit before sliding it into the refrigerator. It’ll need a good 2 hours to set, so maybe glance through those old photo albums or write a letter to a friend while you wait.
6. Once set, use a sharp knife (dipped in hot water if you’ve got a mind to) to cut the fudge into squares.
Variations & Tips
– A splash of fun: If you’re making these for a birthday or other special occasion, feel free to sprinkle a few extra Fruity Pebbles on top before the fudge sets—it makes for a confetti-like celebration in every piece.
– Storing the sweetness: Keep your fudge squares in an airtight container, between sheets of wax paper, in the fridge to maintain their delightful texture for a week or so.
– Precious leftovers: If you’ve got more Fruity Pebbles lingerin’ about, save ’em for a rainy day breakfast or mix ’em into pancake batter for a twist on Saturday morning fare.
Now, as you lift a square to your lips, let its colors take you back to those mornings when cartoons were the magic of the day, and life’s complexities were just whispers in the wind. Enjoy, my dears.
