After giving his last two dollars to an old man in need at the gas station store, homeless and penniless Brandon finds himself inheriting the man’s business the following day. While Brandon sees this as a fresh start for his family, a formidable adversary plans to thwart their plans.
As Brandon trudged into the convenience shop, clutching his paper cup filled with spare coins, a loud voice interrupted him near an aisle. A group of irate customers stood behind a senile old man, and Brandon strained to see what was happening.
“What did you say about the water?” the old man asked the cashier.
“I told you, you don’t have enough money, sir!” the cashier moaned.
“It was a bright day!” the old man retorted.
“You need more money! Move along!” a younger man behind him shouted, grabbing his shoulder.
Brandon wanted to intervene, but he feared the customers’ reaction. The old man needed a smaller bottle of water for his medications, but he didn’t have enough money.
