Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups of wheat flour
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 1/2 cups of vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk (sour milk)*
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red liquid food coloring
1 teaspoon of white vinegar
Cream cheese for frosting (optional)
Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease and flour three round cake pans.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.
In another bowl, mix together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, red food coloring, and vinegar.
Gradually add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until you achieve a smooth and homogeneous batter.
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans, pouring it in gently.
Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for a few minutes, then carefully remove them from the pans and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
